From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. System (from Latin systēma, in turn from Greek σύστημα systēma) is a set of interacting or interdependent entities forming an integrated whole. The concept of an 'integrated whole' can also be stated in terms of a system embodying a set of relationships which are differentiated from relationships of the set to other elements, and from relationships between an element of the set and elements not a part of the relational regime. The scientific research field which is engaged in the study of the general properties of systems include systems theory, cybernetics, dynamical systems and complex systems. They investigate the abstract properties of the matter and organization, searching concepts and principles which are independent of the specific domain, substance, type, or temporal scales of existence. This question came to mind while reading this statement in another Q&A: "Socialism is an economic system. Liberty has to do with the system of government, the political system, not the economic system." How do political and economic systems interact? Can you really separate them? Asked by Joe S - Mon Jul 21 16:44:20 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. In my opinion, they are one in the same. Claiming that liberty only applies to political systems seems to be an intellectually lazy attempt to support "liberty" when it applies to lifestyle choices (gay marriage, abortion) and privacy (anti-Patriot Act etc), yet deny liberty when it applies to taxation, trade, business regulation, etc. By attempting to separate the two, populists can restrict our basic freedom of protection of private property while still claiming to believe in and support liberty. Milton Friedman addressed this topic in 'Capitalism and Freedom', and F.A. Hayek had interesting comments relevant to this topic in 'The Road to Serfdom' - both are must reads. I have to describe the structure and functions of the the cardiovascular system and the respiratory system. I can manage that but I now need to link the two systems, ie how they work together. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My brain has gone numb, and I just cannot get my head around it. Sooo fuzzy with revision and course work. Thank you. Also, any ideas where I can find good diagrams of both these systems. Thanks again. Asked by icarntsing - Tue May 5 15:39:42 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Your cardiovascular system carries blood out of your heart and through your lungs to be reoxygenated, and then dispenses it throughout your body though different vessels. It then returns to be oxygenated again. Answered by Tiffany - Tue May 5 15:51:18 2009 How many redundant systems are there on a Commercial Airliner?
Q. How many redundancies are there on the various vital systems (Hydraulics, avionics, engine ECU, fuel pumps??) Asked by torque1224 - Wed Jan 24 18:21:16 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Well it depends on which manufacturer of the airplane is. When you say comeercial airliners those includes new generation Boeings, Enchance Airbuses and even the old McDonnell Douglas airplaines and more... meaning old and new planes. If this is the way your goes I would say vital systems varies from 2 to 5 redundancies depending on its reliability. You may want to ask more specific next time so that i can give you more specific answer. Glad to help.
