What time should school start in the morning?
Q. What time do you think high school should start in the morning? Please include what age you are with your answer. Thank you!

A. School should begin at about 8AM. That time in most areas would allow students to return home before it got dark and would allow seniors and others who have short programs to have a job. Starting later would also impact negatively on extra-curricular and sports activities./

Is Bartending school a waste of time and money?
Q. I am thinking about going to bartending school, I am married and have a 11 year old son. My husband does not think it is a good idea to go to bartending school, He thinks it is a waste of money and basically probably a scam. He does not like the idea of the hours of working in a bar, and the fact that I may be hit on, just a lot of factors including the time. Ect.

A. yes, bartending schools are a colossal waste of both. in my 25 years in the business i've never once seen a "graduate" get the job, because it takes too long to "de-program" them, most places prefer to train a novice over hiring a graduate. check out www.totallyfreebartending .com for starters. if you've never worked in the restaurant/bar industry, starting as a bartender without restaurant experience is a very bad idea. it is by far the hardest job, with the longest hours, and most physical work involved. hire on as a server, or cocktail server at a smaller place, to see, if this business is for you. if you are just looking for a part time job, you'll make more money that way, and is much easier work. as a bartender you are expected to… [cont.]

When is the best time to get pregnant during medical school studies?
Q. I am planning to get pregnant during my studies in medical school, as I will be too old by the time I finish. What medical year would be best to do this? First year? Second? I would think being pregnant during residency would be too much for both me and the baby. What are your thoughts?

A. It depends on what you mean by 'too old' - obviously there are people having kids when they are much older (though personally I think having kids at 60 is not really thinking of your children). Think about your reasons why before you plan this. I had my son midway through my degree program (unplanned pregnancy - hubby and I planned to wait until I had finished my degree), and I managed but it was extremely hard work and I was exhausted and overworked for two years of my life. I can't imagine life without my son - he was such a wonderful surprise! I do think that it made it all so much harder though. Think really hard about it before planning this - could you perhaps defer your degree for a year and have a child before you begin your… [cont.]
