The term data means groups of information that represent the qualitative or quantitative attributes of a variable or set of variables. Data (plural of "datum", which is seldom used) are typically the results of measurements and can be the basis of graphs, images, or observations of a set of variables. Data are often viewed as the lowest level of abstraction from which information and knowledge are derived.

How do I strip leftover application data from my computer after I've uninstalled the program?
Q. How do I strip leftover application data from my computer after I've uninstalled the program? I uninstalled a program from my windows pc, and I want to completely remove all trace of it from my pc. I know that even post-uninstall, the application left data behind, like info about when it was installed, it's serial number, and other data. Is there a program that will strip this data from my pc? Please help.

A. You can go to "Start" menu and then "Search" to see whether you can see find some left-over files in your drives. Or go to "Run"=> Regedit to modify/remove some associated registry entries. Maybe you can reinstall and then uninstall it to see whether it helps you finish the job. Good luck here:

What does it mean to pass data by value and how does that compare to passing data by reference?
Q. What does it mean to pass data by value and how does that compare to passing data by reference? Explain to me why we would pass some data by value and others by reference.

A. if you pass data by value then you are only passing the value stored in that variable. If you then change that value, in a method for example, it doesn't change the value in the original variable. On the other hand if you pass by reference, and you change the value, then it WILL change in the original variable. There will be times, such as when you work with arrays, that you might want to use the value stored in a particular spot in the array and use it in a calculation. Other times you will want to change the actual value in the array itself. hope that helps some.

Customer data bank - any ideas on the best way to start?
Q. I am in the process of starting a small business and I am asking for suggestions on how to set up my customer data bank. I am planning on using Quick Books for bookkeeping purposes, if that is relavant info. Any (software) suggestions? I would also like to use this software for newsletters (web oriented = email adresses). I cant imagine that an Excel spread sheet will be a good long-term solution. Tips?
