How is the safety trigger on a glock as safe as a traditional safety?
Q. I have an airsoft glock, which is the same as a real steel glock except that it fires bbs. I don't understand how the safety trigger can really be as safe as a traditional safety. When I put my glock in my holster I don't feel as safe as when I put my USP in my holster.

A. The biggest safety on all firearms is you. Keep your finger off the trigger till your ready to shoot. There might not be any manual levers on the Glock but with the trigger system the only way your going to discharge the gun is by squeezing both of the triggers. The gun is going to be as safe as any other if bumped, dropped, etc. I own a Glock and I still don't know if I like the system. It's OK for me. But I'm still a little worried when I let my girlfriend fire the gun. She's still new with firearms in general.

What safety regulations govern leaky valves on a compressed air line?
Q. In my ag safety class, we found a valve leaking some compressed air in our farm shop. My assignment was to determine what regulations govern the selected safety problem, determine if the item is in compliance (which it obviously isn't), and what must be done to correct the problem. I've been googling, but I can't find anything.

A. This is a violation of the plumbing section of the building code adopted by the geographical jurisdiction where the campus is located. It's an example of non-workmanlike installation or deteriorated condition; in addition, it may also violate US + state labor law, see OSHA---Occupational Safety Hazards Administration. This may be an imminent safety hazards; it's probably best to restrict entry to all for ALL persons until this line can be effectively shut down, blown down + the valve leakage repaired. Notify in writing Maintenance Engineering administrator for campus at once.

What are the local safety departments in Malaysia related to a restaurant/hotel?
Q. I'm doing a report on the restaurant manager and safety but I cant seem to find any safety departments besides Deparment of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (DOSHA). Can anyone tell me what other departments there are in Malaysia related to the topic?

A. My common sense tells me you need a Fire safety cert, a food handling cleanliness and safety requirement plus an exit door to the restaurant. The rest find yourself.

A. Way back then, brakes sometimes were optional, something I would call a safety measure. Since automobiles where a brand new invention, there were no laws regarding them and the price was keep down by not adding anything to them. Remember the crank start system on them? How many people hurt themselves just trying to start the poor thing. The real safety measures started to appear in the teens and twenty's and again, we would look at them as standard equipment, not safety, like electric starters, bumpers, descent brakes, windshields, etc.

Q. Okay so I pierced my navalusing a safety pin. I've had it for like a week now and I hella wanna take out tha safety pin but it's kinda hard lol. Well i'm just scared that I might rip it out or something. So yeah, omg heeelp!
Asked by Chi - Sun Feb 3 05:12:09 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Just carefully remove it, if you can't do it, ask a friend to help. Then spray the area with bactine because a household safety pin isn't the cleanest thing in the world and you may have gotten an infection from it being in there or will get one from it being in there as the wound is finally getting air to it. It's going to hurt so take ibuprofen before hand to reduce swelling and help with pain management. Good luck.

How do I keep my safety goggles from fogging up?
Q. When I am trying to work with the string trimmer and get hot and sweaty my safety goggles fog up. I don't wear my safety goggles anymore while trimming because of that.
Asked by Linda - Wed Jul 1 23:03:45 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well, first, if they are fogging up that usually means they don't fit well and you should probably look to getting a pair that fits properly. As for the fogging, that can often be fixed by spitting on the inside and rubbing it around to coat (sounds stupid but it works), you can use vinegar to do the same thing, or you can use commercial products like Rain X.

A. - Power restrictions - don't overload dimmers - Weight loading on bars - don't overload! Or hire extra dimmers - which comes back to the power and money issues! - Costing - do you want equipment that will need to be hired in at extra cost, or does the theatre have a sufficient stock? - Are any lanterns going to be used on the floor? Is there any safety risk to permanently switching of phases of a home via the fuse box?
Q. I do not use, at all, most of the electrical outlets of the house. Since these outlets are on phases (via the fuse box) that I do use, I do not see any reason to leave those unused outlets live. Are there any safety hazards to switching of those phases via the fuse box and leaving the fuse box in that state? By phase I do mean circuit.
Asked by visualc - Thu Jan 15 09:27:44 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It sounds like you have 220 volt service in the USA if this is correct the 2 power leeds coming in are not 2 phases but separate legs from the Transformer. It won't hurt to switch off the outlets but they might be hooked to a light or something you use. Unless you have a baby in home messing with them I would leave them on because it don't cost anything.

Feel free to browse any of the video clips I have uploaded to Youtube on various areas of health and safety, and by all means use any material you like - a plug for my company would be nice of course. What things can cause a furnace boiler safety valve to shoot out hot water?
Q. I woke up this morning to a loud gushing sound coming from my basement. I opened the door and the basement was filled with steam. I killed power to the furnace (hot water baseboard heat) and when I went down to look there was hot water all over the wall on the side of the safety valve. I turned the power back on and saw a steady stream of steam coming from or near the safety valve as it heated back up. What are the causes for hot water to be purged from the system?
Asked by Doc Biz - Sun Mar 16 14:30:17 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Two causes of water coming out of the safety valve: 1) the valve is faulty; 2) the valve just did its job (and prevented an explosion... no kidding). Your description leads me to say the latter (2). Sounds like you lost water and the boiler flashed steam. Not a good situation. Call a service tech and don't turn on the system. This IS a potentially life and property threatening problem. On edit: I won't elaborate on possible causes lest you be tempted to do a fix yourself, but at least one of your safety devices likely failed... the low water cutout. I cannot over emphasize how potentially dangerous a steam explosion is. The potential for destruction is every bit as serious as that of a gas leak.

A. My neighbour does Jams/Preserves & Fruit Cakes from home. I'm pretty sure she said that she'd had a visit from the Council's Food Health Dept. For her, there was no problem with it being an 'ordinary' kitchen. There may be exceptions to this depending on the type of cake/dessert(s). Fresh cream/ use of raw egg white (unpasturised) would have a higher risk if not stored correctly. According to my local council website you must register before starting to trade.

How can I keep a safety shower from freezing in the winter?
Q. If a safety shower and eyewash station is placed outside, there is a good chance it will freeze in the winter. OSHA and ANSI are pretty vague on this. Could I use heat tape and how do would I keep it from getting too hot?
Asked by Roy E - Sun Aug 26 08:05:32 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Heat tape would work very well, it would not get to hot at all. If you do not have to have it running in the winter then drain it and cut the water off to it but i would assume it is against regulations.

Drivers are unaware of dangerous encounters almost every time they go for a drive. Cars can endanger the lives of the drivers and the people surrounding them, even if a driver is extremely careful when driving.
